Assign the student to complete a cultural assessment on their assigned patient in clinical. The student will be required to develop a plan of care.

Student will develop teaching plan for diverse patient factoring in social determinants of health.

Rubric

Student will analyze case studies for health disparities, stereotypes, and biases that may affect care.

Case studies: Have students break up into groups of 2-3, and work on selected case studies. Each group will compare and contrast examples of behavior by healthcare team members that are either inclusive or insensitive.

Multiple-choice test

The student will identify common cultural characteristics of diverse ethnic groups.

Assign each student group two different culturally diverse patient populations & instruct student groups to research designated characteristics for each group in their assignment. Student groups will then present their research to the class.
