In the clip from the documentary, The Cutting Edge: The Magic of Movie Editing, George Lucas remarks, “most actors learn very early on that the editor is the one to make friends with because their performance depends a great deal on the editor.” Please explain how editing (or the lack thereof in the case of neorealism) can enhance an actor’s performance. In your response you should use film terminology to elaborate on the symbiotic relationship between editing and acting by incorporating at least one key passage from Looking at Movies and by closely analyzing at least one of the feature length screenings assigned for Unit 5.
