For your final paper, you will reflect on your effort and achievements throughout the semester by analyzing the writing you created for class. The goal of this final paper is to allow you to reflect on what you’ve accomplished and to sketch out plans for your future as a writer.
Start your brainstorming process by organizing all of the writing you’ve accomplished throughout the semester. As you read back through your work, you may notice patterns and changes in your writing and thinking. Using a sample (or samples) of your work from class to illustrate your ideas, explain what you’ve learned about yourself as a writer this semester. Your reflection should be approximately 2-3 pages, double spaced, 12 point font.
The following questions may help to guide your thinking (though you shouldn’t answer all of them):
Which writing samples stand out to you? Why?
What similarities do you notice between your writings? (For example, do you see a clear style or voice? An attitude toward a particular subject matter? A weakness in grammar?)
What differences do you notice between your earlier work and the work you did later in the semester? (For example, do you notice smoother transitions? More quotations? Deeper analysis?)
How have your assumptions and understandings about folklore, writing, literacy, research, society, culture, history, etc. changed as a result of this course?
What advice would you give to students who are given these assignments in the future? What writing or studying strategies seem to work best for you? What do you wish you had done differently?
How would you describe the assignments? What challenges did you face while working on these assignments? How did you try to meet those challenges?
What accomplishments did you achieve in your writing? What are you proud of?
Which assignment was most helpful or enjoyable to you? Why? Which assignment was the most challenging for you? Why?
What skills did your gain this semester? How will these skills help you in your future endeavors (as an employee, a parent, a citizen, etc.)?
What kinds of writing do you envision yourself doing in the future? What skills do you need to continue to develop in order to do that writing well?
Being that you wrote all my papers for this class, you can answer these questions required for the paper. I can send you the previous papers if needed.
