Rhetorical Analysis – Outline
Instructions
Creating an outline is a crucial part of the prewriting process. It is meant to serve as a guide during the drafting stage, so its content should be easily accessible to the eye. Therefore, avoid full sentences and too many details. In the upcoming module, you will write a draft based on the current-event video you chose using the outline you create for this activity.
This assignment is about providing analysis of the author’s use of logos, pathos, and ethos in developing a balanced argument, not the student’s views on the subject. Supporting evidence paragraphs should focus on usage of logos, pathos, and ethos. Include a proper title page utilizing APA 7 standards. Please note that APA 7 prohibits titles over 12 words.
Activity
Create an outline for your selected current event video. See this Rhetorical Analysis Outline Download Rhetorical Analysis Outlineas an example.
The outline should include:
Introduction
Summary Paragraph
Analysis Paragraph 1 (ethos)
Analysis Paragraph 2 (pathos)
Analysis Paragraph 3 (logos)
Concluding Paragraph
Each section’s content should be written as concisely and precisely as possible. Proper grammar should be used, but the outline does not need to include complete sentences. Include a proper title page for all writing assignments.
