Discussion Prompt

The video explores the experiment conducted by Charisse Nixon, Ph.D. Developmental Psychologist at Penn State Behrend and Director of Research and Evaluation for the Ophelia Project, that discusses the phenomenon of learned helplessness. In your opinion, can we induce learned helplessness? Does culture play a role in learned helplessness, and why?  How could these ramifications play a role in how adolescents and adults behave and develop.

  • This discussion is worth 30 points.
