In Cavicchi’s work, he introduces us to the first forms of fandom, that which was before mass mediated markets where fandom was often (but not always) engaged with on a more individual level. In Ingersoll’s work, she discusses Buffett’s fans, Parrotheads, and how, with the mass mediated markets and production fandom transitioned into everyday fan activities. Giving specific examples from each reading, explain how these two fandoms are different (not because of the artists they celebrate, but moreso, how they’re going about doing it). How do we see this shift from “loving music” to “fan” (in a contemporary context)?

In what ways were both sets of fan groups celebrating their fandom in their everyday lives? And how, if at all, are/were they limited in their everyday celebrations? Compare and contrast the two. 10 points
