Photo project inspired by William Eggleston

This week we looked at printmaking and photography, two related mediums, but also very different. While examining the history of photography, one important artist we looked at was William Eggleston who was instrumental in bringing attention to the artistic potential of color photography, something we take for granted now. For this project I’d like you to look at the work of Eggleston and use that research to inform your own photograph. This project will require the means to take a photograph, which for most of you will be your phone. If you don’t have a way to shoot a photograph, the Tech Commons has cameras you can check out. You will need to present your color photograph to me in class next week along with an attached paragraph describing your opinion of Eggelston’s photography and why you do or do not like it. Also, offer a brief explanation on how his work informed your own photograph.

• Written paragraph as described above, double-spaced 12 point.
