Bias Awareness and Action Plan Journal – Introduction and ReflectionThis week, you will begin your Bias Awareness and Action Plan Journal by reflecting on your own cultural background, lived experiences, and how these may have shaped your personal values and nursing practice. The goal is to thoughtfully examine any conscious or unconscious biases you may hold and consider how they might impact the care you provide.

Instructions

Complete the Harvard Implicit Association Test (IAT) Use insights from the test to guide your journal entry. Your reflections should include specific examples from your own experience, connections to this week’s readings, including references to the Harvard Implicit Association Test Website and a minimum of one journal article to support your insights. This foundational week sets the stage for building a more inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive nursing practice throughout the course. Be sure to follow the grading rubric when developing your weekly journal content and format.

Guidelines

  • Must include a properly formatted APA 7th Edition STUDENT Title Page (includes page numbers; NO running head).
  • Your submission should be a minimum of 2 pages no more than 3 pages (this does NOT include the title page and reference page).
  • Must include 3 scholarly references to support your paper; ONE (1) from this week’s reading, ONE (1) from Harvard Implicit Association Test website, and ONE (1) from professional peer-reviewed journals published within the past five (5) years (must be credible).
  • APA 7th Edition documents should be double-spaced, including the reference page. 
  • Must use Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri 12-pt font with 1-inch margins.
