  • Use your assigned readings and the literature related to legal and ethical considerations for nurse managers to prepare the educational material.
  • Identify 3-5 key concerns for legal and ethical management in nursing that apply in all settings.
  • List 3-5 strategies for nurse managers related to ethical and legal treatment of employees.
  • Explain guidelines to address and mitigate potential ethical or legal concerns that could occur in your current work environment or unit as if you are the manager there.
  • Include appropriate reporting guidelines for potential violations in that setting.

Objectives:

  • Students will list 3-5 key ethical and legal concerns for all nurse managers.
  • Students will list 3-5 strategies for nurse managers related to ethical and legal treatment of employees.
  • Students will list guidelines for mitigating and addressing ethical or legal concerns for nurses in a particular setting, including appropriate reporting guidelines.

 

References: Minimum of two (2) total references, including at least one from required readings and one peer-reviewed reference. All references must be no older than five years (unless making a specific point using a seminal piece of information)Peer-reviewed references include references from professional data bases such as PubMed or CINHAL applicable to population and practice area, along with evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.
