Assignment 1: Managing Change Ethically

You work for Comus 9, a clothing company that has a hugely popular ready-to-wear line. Your company is thinking about a feasibility study on outsourcing its key manufacturing operations to Bangladesh, where cheap labor cost will give Comus 9 the margin to survive in the face of increasing competition. There is a possibility of downsizing the current workforce in Comus 9 to drive down its cost component. You have been asked to prepare an introductory report on the key ethical issues involved in the change process, which Comus 9 will initiate if it decides to outsource.

On Thursday, October 10, 2013 of this week, use the Argosy University online library and the Internet to examine organizations that have successfully managed change events involving downsizing, offshoring, and outsourcing.

On Friday, October 11, 2013, create a double-spaced, two-page introductory report identifying how leaders in Comus 9 need to ethically manage and administer the change events of downsizing and outsourcing. Include the following in your report:

• Possible ethical dilemmas related to downsizing, offshoring, and outsourcing
• Feasible solutions and strategies for the dilemmas related to downsizing, offshoring, and outsourcing

Analyze the dilemmas from a leadership perspective.

All written assignments and responses should follow APA rules for attributing sources. By Friday, October 11, 2013, submit the introductory report to the M7: Assignment 1 Dropbox.

 

Assignment 2: Corporate Regulations: A Legal Study

On Saturday, October 12, 2013, of this week, start creating the final project for this course. The final project is a legal study of corporate regulations in key organizational functions and their effects on internal and external stakeholders. This week, you will submit the legal study. You will incorporate the reviews done by the facilitator and peers at the end of this week, and submit the final legal study on Friday, October 18, 2013 next week.

Include the following details in the legal study:

Industry: Retail and Distribution, Consumer Products

Stakeholders:

• External: Customer
• Internal: Employee

Key Questions:

• HR: How does safety environment impact the internal and external stakeholders? Cite at least one regulation to present the legal perspective.
• Marketing: How does deceptive advertising affect internal and external stakeholders? Cite at least one regulation to present the legal perspective.
• Accounting: How do unethical accounting practices affect internal and external stakeholders? Cite at least one regulation to present the legal perspective.

On Saturday, October 12, 2013, conduct online research using the Argosy University online library and the Internet to identify key ethical issues related to HR, marketing, and accounting in retail and distribution (consumer products).

• Conclusion: Present your recommendations related to the three key functions and questions.

By Sunday, October 13, 2013, submit the legal study to the appropriate Discussion Area.

By Monday, October 14, 2013, review and comment on at least two of your peers’ postings. You can ask technical questions or respond generally to the overall experience. Be objective, clear, and concise in your postings. Also go through your peers’ comments on your submissions, using the Discussion Area as a forum to strengthen your understanding on the subject.
